You realize that you are basically making me go...ooooh, get out the paints and the patterns and get MESSY! :) What did you draw with here, the white I mean? I like it. Like a flight of some desert-ified bumblebee.
It is white charcoal pencil...The dressmaker's chalk was a good guess...(should get some to draw with..as I remember it has a nice texture) but I haven't sewn anything since the early 90's. The patterns are strictly collage material I bought at a swap meet. I have a huge boxful so you will see lots of it being used.
I see a boat powering through a summer storm - nice indeed.
