Halfway Reflection

Which of the works is my favorite? I usually say the one I am working on it my favorite. I have a few pieces that surprised me and I am always hoping that will happen. When it does, I am really happy! Here is one I like because it reads as a larger work to me.

What was my original approach/concept and did it change? I decided to have the criteria that the pieces would all use a collage element of sewing pattern paper. They also were going to be abstract paintings. I have keep those rules for myself.  With only a couple of exceptions they have been abstracts. I have explored the use of collage, mark making and using more actual texture in my paintings. These little acrylics have been very exciting because they have not been preplanned and usually do surprise me.

How do I feel about this 100 Day Project so far? It has been very exciting for me. It gave me structure to do some work on my art, sort of Creative Boot Camp. It has been a challenge at times to keep up. The real value though has been the exposure to so many interesting pieces by the other group members. The images have been amazing. I also am in awe at the members who write such great poetry and prose. Really feel that it has been a great experience to work along with them.
